It is a not-for-profit training organisation established by SIPTU, Ireland’s largest trade union. IDEAS’s aim is to develop and promote the upskilling of workers so that employment in their companies is more sustainable and their companies are more competitive. IDEAS provides a variety of different generic training programmes for workers and companies including computer training, teamworking, train-thetrainer, and personal effectiveness at work programmes.
SIPTU, Ireland’s largest trade union, has 200,000 members in both the public and private sectors of the Irish economy across all occupational categories including drivers, general operatives, nurses, miners, food operatives, and technical grades. SIPTU’s membership is located in most industries and industrial sectors including food, paper, printing, media, health, mining, building and public utilities sectors.
